An individual who would like to remain anonymous reportedly found around 70 piles of cremated human remains near Searchlight. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has opened an investigation into how exactly the ashes came to be carelessly discarded in this manner.
As first reported by KLAS, an official from the Bureau stated that they’re actively investigating the matter but did not have any updates as of Aug. 25.
It’s unclear where the cremains came from and whether they were disposed of intentionally or accidentally. KLAS notes that the anonymous individual who initially found the piles reported their findings a few weeks ago, although the discovery has only recently become public knowledge.

I’ve got one that didn’t make the list, but it’s a place I love driving by on road trips: Area 51 Alien Center.
It is described as an “extraterrestrial-themed souvenir shop meets truck stop meets roadside diner.” It’s green, it’s weird, it’s fun, we love it. The Area 51 Alien Center is on US 95 in Amargosa Valley between Beatty and Las Vegas.
Check out the rest! From a magician’s diner in the middle of rural Nevada to a pop culture phenomenon diner straight from Los Angeles, here are seven classic roadside diners in Nevada that are worth the detour for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
One family farm in Fallon stays rooted in hope while facing federal funding cuts: “A majority of farms in the United States are considered small, and Nevada is no different. Many provide food right back to the local community. But it’s becoming increasingly more difficult for them to survive. That’s the case for one family-operated farm in Fallon.” (KUNR)
Showgirls are forever: How the icon endures in Vegas shows, pop culture, and beyond: “Von Teese, the queen of burlesque who has brought her own inspired show to the Strip—first at the Horseshoe in the former Jubilee Theater and now at the Venetian—says the spirit of the showgirl lives on through symbolism, revived costumes and contemporary performance.” (Las Vegas Weekly)
