Nevada Secretary of State Cisco Aguilar sharply criticized President Donald Trump’s SAVE America Act, calling it a “piece of crap” and rejecting Trump’s repeated claims that large numbers of non-citizens are registering to vote as “complete BS.” Trump and his Republican allies have argued the legislation is needed to require proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections. At the same time, opponents say it would create unnecessary barriers for eligible voters and address a form of voter fraud that election officials have found to be exceedingly rare.
