Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto is criticizing President Donald Trump’s effort to place his portrait on a redesigned $1 coin. The redesign was originally intended to recognize major milestones in American history, including the civil rights movement and women’s suffrage. In response, Cortez Masto introduced legislation that would prohibit any living president from appearing on U.S. coins or currency. The bill was rejected by Senate Republicans, leaving existing law unchanged.
