During public comment at CCSD’s Sept. 10 board meeting, Carl Kettlehorn challenged trustees over academic performance at several east Las Vegas schools, citing science proficiency as low as 9% at one campus and saying the problem has persisted for years, “Why aren’t we doing something about this?” he said. He pointed to nearby schools with significantly higher proficiency rates and argued that class size alone doesn’t explain the gap — pressing district leaders on why struggling campuses haven’t seen more dramatic changes.
