At an Aug. 13 Clark County School District board meeting, Las Vegas resident Amanda Nuchols used public comment to confront trustee Lorena Biassotti after Biassotti wore a shirt with an anti-trans message while conducting official board business. Biassotti has faced mounting criticism over her rhetoric and positions on transgender students. Earlier this year, a student-led petition seeking her removal accused her of making repeated derogatory statements targeting trans students and drew more than 1,000 signatures.
