At President Donald Trump’s rally in Las Vegas on Aug. 5, he claimed nearly 100,000 Nevadans willingly let go of their SNAP benefits because they all found employment. In reality, Nevadans were kicked off of the federal program because of new work requirements — and this has strained food pantries across the state. The unemployment rate in Nevada has also consecutively been one of the highest in the country, sitting at 5.1% in June.
