During a Senate hearing, Sen. Jacky Rosen pushed the Energy Secretary to acknowledge that the U.S. does not need to resume explosive nuclear weapons testing to maintain its arsenal. The exchange comes as President Donald Trump has expressed interest in restarting nuclear testing on an “equal basis” with other countries, a position widely interpreted as support for renewed explosive testing at the Nevada National Security Site. The U.S. has not conducted a full-scale explosive nuclear test since 1992.
