ICE agents tried to detain Phu Nguyen, 57, at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas Monday night, but left before finishing the arrest after bystanders intervened. Police later found Nguyen with a handcuff still on one wrist, ran a records check, found no warrants, and released him. ICE arrested him the next day at LAX as he landed, alleging he’d overstayed his visa.
