When Broadacres Marketplace would normally be filled with hundreds of visitors dancing, shopping, and enjoying themselves, the market announced it would temporarily shut down “due to ongoing ICE [U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement] raids” and the “fear and uncertainty at an all-time high among the immigrant community in Las Vegas.”
Mike Kagan, Director of the UNLV Immigration Clinic, shared that more than 400 people are in ICE custody at the two Southern Nevada Detention Centers: the Henderson Detention Center and the Nevada Southern Detention Center.
An American Airlines flight had to turn around following its departure from Harry Reid International Airport on Wednesday, June 25, after smoke was seen coming from the plane.
Footage filmed by X user @mvious shows dark smoke billowing from the plane as it passed by the Las Vegas National Golf Course on Wednesday.
Airport officials said that American Airlines Flight 1665 was headed from Las Vegas to North Carolina but diverted back to make an emergency landing at the Las Vegas airport due to smoke coming from its left engine, according to local news reports.
Reports said the FAA confirmed that the American Airlines plane returned safely back to Harry Reid around 8:20 am and is investigating.
