Treat yourself: 2024 Election Day freebies and discounts

Most of us look forward to getting that nifty “I Voted” sticker upon voting. What’s better than that?

Well, how about discounts and/or free treats for brandishing that sticker (or other proof that you voted)?

Even though the Federal Election Commission made “giveaways” illegal in 1948, numerous national and local brands have found ways to offer freebies and deals for voters.

Here’s a look at some of the goodies you can score on Tuesday, Nov. 5. (You may have to show your voting sticker, by the way, so wear it proudly!)

Transportation Discounts

  • In an effort to help voters get to the polls, ride-share app Lyft is offering 50% off rides (up to $10) with promo code VOTE24 on Election Day, Nov. 5. In some cities, the code also applies to bike and scooter rides.
  • Similarly, Uber users in the United States can also enjoy 50% off their ride to the polls (up to $10) when they click through the ‘Go Vote’ tile to book a ride through the Uber app via Apple or Android on Election Day.
  • Hertz is offering folks one day free when they reserve a rental car for at least two days using the PC code 211636 and pick up any time now through Nov. 5 at participating locations.
  • Lime is offering free scooter and bike rentals to the polls with code VOTE2024 at checkout through Tuesday, Nov. 5.

Food Discounts

  • Uber users can also save 25% on Election Night Uber Eats orders of $25 or more (up to a $15 discount). This offer will be available from 6 p.m. local time on Nov. 5 through 7 a.m. local time on Nov. 6.
