Good morning, Nevadans!
October is flying by! While curating today’s list of community events I nearly included a couple Halloween and Día de Muertos events happening at the end of the month/early November.
But it’s not time yet! We still have a couple weeks.
Anybody else remember Halloween being the start of winter in Southern Nevada? I remember being annoyed as a child by having to wear layers under my costume and a jacket on top to stay warm while trick-or-treating.

Here’s a unique sight! Some locals have used their spare time to stack some rocks at Las Vegas Boulevard and Bruner Avenue near Southern Highlands.
“One day they were not there and the next day they were. Personally I would like to thank whoever. It is so great to see some positive things happening I think they are really so uplifting in the middle of so many negatives,” said Patricia C. in her email.
Many thanks to Patricia C. for sharing Your Nevada!

President Donald Trump has triaged Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District—stripping Republican candidate Marty O’Donnell of $1 million in ad reservations in his bid to unseat Democratic Rep. Susie Lee.
The Safety and Affordability PAC, which is funded by Trump’s MAGA Inc., poured $3 million in airwave ads to back O’Donnell last month. The district is seen as Nevada’s most competitive congressional seat—Trump narrowly won in 2024.
