Can you guess which is the best place for retirees to live in Nevada?
Nationally, this place ranked number 173. But it was the top spot within the state.
I’ll give you a hint, more so a fun fact: The inventor of the Ferris Wheel called this place home.

Last month, Somos Votantes Education Fund announced that it had eliminated more than $128 million in medical debt for nearly 125,000 people in Clark County and $5 million for 3,559 people in Washoe County.
Its new program, Seeds of Relief, aims to provide direct financial relief to working people and will include future initiatives to provide essential resources to those who need them most.
Those who were included in this first round of debt cancellation should have received a letter in the mail the week of Nov. 24, confirming their debt has been erased. There is no confirmation step and no additional information or payment required.
The program does not require an application, but to learn more about eligibility and future relief rounds, visit seedsofrelief.com.

Tahoe ski season takes shape, but resort openings vary widely: Winter has been slow to arrive around Lake Tahoe, but recent snowfall is finally helping ski season take shape. Still, not every resort is seeing the same conditions. On the Nevada side, Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe is already open, making it one of the first resorts in the area to welcome skiers this season. (KUNR)

Construction industry looks to inspire the next generation of workers amid recent job losses: Nevada’s construction industry contributed $20.8 billion to the state’s GDP in 2024, or about 7.8% of its total output, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. That share was the second largest in the U.S. behind Utah. Today, however, many Nevada workers are too busy hunting for their next gig to celebrate that milestone. According to a September report from the Associated General Contractors of America, the Silver State led the nation in the percentage of construction jobs it lost through August, with 7,100 fewer positions marking a 6.4% year-over-year decrease. Approximately 4,400 jobs were lost between July and August alone. (Las Vegas Weekly)
