Good morning, Nevadans!
Las Vegas is most likely the next city to be awarded an NBA expansion team, but where its home stadium will be on the Las Vegas Strip has already caused some conflict among hospitality developers.
The “civil war” is rooted in whether the team will play at T-Mobile Arena—home of the Vegas Golden Knights, located on the southern part of the Strip—or a new location at two potential sites north of the Strip that have yet to be developed, one adjacent to Resorts World Las Vegas and the other across from Wynn Las Vegas.
Are you a fan following this story? What do you think about the stadium situation?

🟣 Nevada’s youth electorate is growing. Will young voters turn that growth into turnout? KUNR
“Earlier this year, [Secretary of State Cisco Aguilar] launched Youth Vote Nevada, an initiative aimed at increasing youth civic engagement through voter education and outreach to high schools and colleges … Aguilar said the goal is to make political participation a habit that starts early.”
🟣 Nevada’s only oil refinery restarts operations after obtaining a state air permit. 8 News Now
“The Eagle Springs Refinery in Railroad Valley—a 260-mile drive north of Las Vegas—comes after $300,000 in repairs and upgrades were completed since 2025. The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection issued the refinery’s air permit. It’s a small operation in a state with relatively small oil and gas resources. The refinery has a capacity to process about 5,000 barrels of crude oil per day.”
🟣 From immigration crackdowns to data centers, Nevada’s big economic stories. KNPR
“For an individual, it can just cause a lot of turmoil. You know, one day you have a job that helps you sustain your home and your family, and the next, well, that’s all in jeopardy. And then that has a ripple effect because so many immigrants fill service jobs. It’s also affecting construction, for example.”
