Nevada Rep. Steven Horsford joined fellow lawmakers and hundreds of healthcare workers on Capitol Hill for the bipartisan “Healthcare is Human” rally hosted by the medical apparel brand FIGS, focusing on alleviating staffing shortages, burnout, and mental health support for nurses and other medical professionals.
The event brought together hundreds of nurses, doctors, and healthcare workers to advocate for legislation that would provide a federal tax credit of up to $6,000 for healthcare professionals serving in shortage areas and expand funding for nurse mental health programs. Nevada has long faced some of the nation’s most severe healthcare worker shortages, especially in rural parts of the state, where hospitals and clinics often struggle to recruit and retain medical staff.
