Women of the Wild: Conservation Leaders & Mentorship Event

Wednesday, May 13, 5 p.m. (Las Vegas)

This free and open-to-the-public 2.5-hour event at Cactus Joe’s Blue Diamond Nursery will promote women and girls in wildlife conservation leadership, mentorship, and community building who are interested in:

  • Wildlife conservation
  • Connecting to mentors
  • Engagement opportunities
  • Stories from the field

Indigicrafts

Wednesday, May 13, 6-8:30 p.m. (Las Vegas)

Visit the LV Indian Center for its monthly sewing workshop and skill-sharing. Attendees can also participate in “bring a book, take a book” and enjoy refreshments and snacks (bring treats to share). Sewing machines, material, and tools are available onsite but are limited, bring your gear and projects.

Northern Nevada Giant Student Farmers Market

Thursday, May 14, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. (Carson City)

Approximately 150 student “Farmpreneurs” from 15 Northern Nevada schools will sell fresh produce and handmade goods grown at the Nevada State Legislature Building. More than a farmers market, the event is a real-world showcase of how hands-on learning can bring together agriculture, STEM, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy. Proceeds will go directly back to participating schools to help sustain and grow their garden and hydroponics programs and hands-on student learning opportunities.
