As Nevadans venture further into fall, they can expect corn mazes, pumpkin patches, and haunted houses starting this weekend.
For people looking to get spooky ahead of Halloween (and some events happening on the actual holiday), Reno and Carson City have ghost walks, haunted houses, corn mazes, and zombie paintball to enjoy.
Here’s a look at locations, prices, and dates for Northern Nevada’s haunted houses this year.
Reno, Carson City haunted houses
Dark Corner Haunted House
After staging haunted houses at Reno’s National Bowling Stadium for several years, Dark Corner is welcoming its second season at the historic Nevada State Prison in Carson City. The prison operated from 1862 to 2012 and is now a public historic site.
Dark Corner is offering multiple spooky events leading up to Halloween. “Behind the Screams” is a flashlight tour with paranormal storytelling. On Nov. 1, a one-night-only event turns off all lights, leaving guests to navigate with flashlights. VIP tickets include merch, faster entry, free drinks, behind-the-scenes makeup access and even cockroach petting.
- Dates: Sept. 25–Nov. 1. From Sept. 25-Oct. 3 the haunted house will only be open on Friday and Saturday nights. Through the weekend of Oct. 9-11, it will be open Friday-Sunday, and on all other weekends until Nov. 1, the haunted house will be open Thursday- Sunday. Nov. 1 will be a special “flashlights only” night at the historic prison. Admission usually begins around 6 p.m., with last admission at 11 p.m.
- Cost: General tickets are $34.95 per person, and VIP tickets are $74.95. On Sept. 26, as well as Oct. 2, 10, 23, and 29, people can also get “Behind the Screams” tickets, which give access to an hour-long tour of the behind-the-scenes work that goes into Dark Prison Haunt. These tickets also cost $74.95. People can buy tickets at secure.interactiveticketing.com.
- Location: 3301 Warm Springs Court in Carson City
Andelin Family Farm Corn Creepers and Zombie Paintball
Andelin Family Farm isn’t just pumpkin patches and corn mazes — it also offers haunted tours and zombie paintball. Corn Creepers transforms the corn maze into a spooky labyrinth full of scare actors. Next to it, Zombie Paintball lets visitors load onto a bus and fire paintballs at “zombies.”
- Dates: Sept. 26–Oct. 31, Thursdays–Saturdays every weekend after the opening day on Sept. 26. Sept. 26 is the only day this upcoming weekend that Corn Creepers will be open. Zombie Paintball has the same schedule. Both activities will be open from about 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. each night, while tickets last.
- Cost: Zombie Paintball is $15 on opening weekend, $25-$26 on Halloween weekend, and around $20–$25 on weekends in between. Corn Creepers is $15 on Sept. 26 and up to $30 in mid-October. You can purchase tickets online or in person.
- Location: 8100 Pyramid Way in Sparks
Carson City Ghost Walk
The Carson City Ghost Walk takes guests on a historical tour of Nevada’s capital with a spooky twist. Actors portray ghosts while sharing stories tied to landmarks around town.
- Dates: Upcoming walks are set for Sept. 26 and Oct. 3, both starting at 7 p.m.
- Cost: Tickets for the flashlight tours cost $20 if bought online in advance or $25 in person.
- Location: Guests will meet at McFadden Plaza in downtown Carson City 15 minutes before they depart at the scheduled time.
The Final Hour
For those who want a haunted house closer to Reno, The Final Hour offers tours throughout October and into November.
- Dates: Opens Friday, Oct. 2 and runs Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays through Nov. 1; the only Sunday it is open. Tours begin at 8 p.m., with last admission at 11 p.m.
- Cost: General admission is $36.73; VIP tickets are $52.16.
- Location: 2350 Oddie Blvd. in Sparks
