Looking for something to do this weekend? Or even during the week? Whether you’re in Reno or Las Vegas, our community is always active—from roller skating to wildlife night walks. Here are this week’s highlights:
Stalking Twilight Night Walk — Saturday, Aug. 9, 7:30-9 p.m. at Wetlands Park (7050 Wetlands Park Lane) in Las Vegas. Join a group walk with a Wetlands Park naturalist and explore the Nature Preserve under the full moon. All ages welcome. Space is limited. Those interested are asked to register online in advance. Entrance fees are $5 for ages 3 to adult (ages 0-2 are free). Closed-toe shoes required. Participants are encouraged to wear long sleeves and pants.
Desert Breeze Community Center Back-to-School fair — Saturday, Aug. 9, 8:30-10:30 a.m. at 8275 Spring Mountain Road. There will be backpack giveaways, community resources, vaccines, health screenings, haircuts, and more (while supplies last). This event is free, but pre-registration is required. Children must be present to receive supplies.
Rollin’ Reno — The roller rink’s last day is Aug. 9. Visit the Believe Plaza (30 N. Virginia St.) in Reno on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, or Saturday from 5:30-10 p.m. and rent skates for $5 (or skate for free if you bring your own pair). There will be music, food, and drinks for purchase. Children under 12 get free skate rentals.
Hot August Nights — Through Aug. 10, the streets of Reno-Sparks will light up with classic cars and rock and roll. Thousands of spectators come to check out the 6,000 registered participants across 12 venues. See the events schedule and tickets online.
