📖 A Century of Black History Takes Center Stage at Carson City Historical Society
Thursday, Feb. 26, 6:30 p.m (Carson City)
The lecture will be held in the Carriage House at the Foreman-Roberts House Museum (1207 N. Carson St.) The program will be presented by Michael J. Smith, a well-known Carson City educator, civic leader, and public speaker with a long record of community involvement. Admission is free for Carson City Historical Society members and $10 for non-members. Seating is limited, and tickets are available online at CCHistorical.org.
Friday, Feb. 27, 1-2 p.m. (Elko)
Learn the basics of caring for houseplants in this free introductory workshop hosted by University of Nevada, Reno Extension and the Master Gardeners. The class covers how to select houseplants and properly care for them—lighting needs, watering, fertilizing, soil selection, and common pests. The free workshop will be held at the Elko County Extension Office (701 Walnut St.)
Feb. 25-March 8 (Tahoe City)
Each year, the festival celebrates everything that makes North Lake Tahoe special, including its unique community and the adventurous visitors. Snowfest’s mission is to uplift local nonprofits, support public programs, empower student organizations, and fund scholarships, all through this unique ten-day festival.
Feb. 27-March 1 (Reno)
This three-day, family-friendly event being held at the Circus Circus Hotel in downtown Reno features hundreds of pedigreed cats competing for top honors, interactive breed spotlights, and a vendor marketplace filled with unique pet products. Attendees can also be part of free educational talks from veterinarians, behavior experts, and breeders on topics like feline health, nutrition, and responsible pet ownership. And a local cat rescue will be on-site with kittens and cats available for adoption. Tickets range from $9-$16
Southern Nevada
🚲 Bikes and Books – Safe routes to school
Thursday, Feb. 26, 7 a.m. (Las Vegas)
Come on your bike and help deliver books to students at Hewetson Elementary School (701 N. 20th St.) Books are provided, just come with a bike, a helmet, and a smile! Adults only.
Meet up: 7 a.m. at Golden Crown Bicycles LLC (2320 E. Bonanza Rd.)
Ride out: 7:40 a.m. to the school.
Friday, Feb. 27, 9-11 a.m. (Boulder City)
Join a clean-up at Lake Mead’s 33 Hole area to help keep it clean and beautiful. Volunteers will take part in hands-on clean-up efforts while enjoying a scenic location overlooking the water—an area especially loved by birders and nature enthusiasts. Free entry into the park is included. Participants should wear comfortable hiking shoes, sun protection, and bring water and snacks.
🌹 5th Annual Roses Celebration
Saturday, Feb. 28, noon-6 p.m. (Las Vegas)
Enjoy live DJs, vendors, a panel discussion, live paint experience, spoken word, children’s book reading and crafts, food, and culture at Analog Dope (205 E. Colorado Ave.) in downtown Las Vegas.
💜 Love Shouldn’t Hurt – Escape room and conversation about teen dating violence
Saturday, Feb. 28, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. (North Las Vegas)
Youth in 8th to 12th grade, educators, families, and community advocates can participate in this free forum promoting prevention, awareness, and cross-sector collaboration to protect young people and foster healthier relationships. The forum will be held at Richard Steele Boxing Gym (2475 W. Cheyenne, suite 110) and highlight what teen domestic violence looks like, youth rights, how and when to seek help, mental health and pathways to healing, and community resources for prevention and support.

Saturday, Feb. 28, 10 a.m.-noon (Las Vegas)
Come to downtown Las Vegas (100 E. California Ave.) meet the artist, take pictures by the mural, and visit Southern Nevada Bicycle Coalition safety exhibitors to learn more about how to prevent crashes and put an end to the serious injuries and loss of life that impact our families and our community.
