State law allows for any person in Nevada who is pregnant to have an abortion in the first 24 weeks of pregnancy. The proposed amendment to the constitution would further enshrine abortion protections by cementing those rights in the state constitution.
“Anti-choice extremists made it clear that overturning Roe v. Wade was just the beginning, and last week they took it a step further when the Alabama Supreme Court tried to block women’s access to IVF,” Sen. Jacky Rosen said in a statement Tuesday.

Nevadans for Reproductive Freedom must now collect 103,000 signatures from registered voters by June 26, 2024. If they accomplish this, voters will get the chance to begin the process of enshrining abortion rights into the state constitution this November.
