Many people were forced to tighten their belts this year due to the housing shortages, as well as increases in the cost of rent, gasoline and the prices of basic goods. However, things have gradually improved and as we look ahead to receive a new year, some rays of hope have started to shine with the arrival of 2024.

• “Party Smart Promise” is a campaign that encourages tourists and locals to have fun, but in a safe and smart way. Since 2017, The Rape Crisis Center has implemented an information campaign with the goal of having smart fun: When planning to have a good time, it is recommended to arrive together, stay together, and go home together. The “Party Smart Promise” campaign is a two-pronged initiative that includes safety tips for partygoers, as well as training for club and nightclub staff on how to spot and prevent predatory behavior.
• Local authorities have also announced that they will implement an information campaign to encourage drivers to refrain from driving under the influence of prohibited substances. Impaired driving is a serious problem in Nevada: More than 350 people died in crashes in 2023, due to factors including drunk driving and speeding. Unfortunately, it becomes even more prevalent during the holidays. These deaths are 100% preventable.
