¡Hola!
Welcome to The Nevadan / El Nevadense’s new weekly newsletter. Here we will share with you the latest happenings in Las Vegas.
But first, let me introduce myself. I’m a longtime journalist in Las Vegas and have lived in the Silver State for more than 30 years.
Before working for the Las Vegas Review-Journal en Español, I covered everything from politics, sports, community events and entertainment for El Mundo Spanish Newspaper (the oldest Spanish weekly publication in Southern Nevada) for more than 27 years. Not only have I witnessed first-hand the growth of the Latino community in southern Nevada since 1989, but I’ve also seen the evolution of the rapidly evolving technology that is changing the way news organizations reach their audiences.
To be frank (see what I did there?) our team will always strive to meet the needs of the -still- growing Hispanic population in Southern Nevada.
Aquí entre nos, let me tell you that our goals are simple:
• share local news that matters to you
• ensure more Latinos living in Nevada understand how policy decisions affect their day-to-day lives
• celebrate all the people, places, and things that are unique to the Latin-American community in Nevada.
Pero me encantaría to learn a little more about you and what kinds of information you’re looking for. Gracias!

Every year in the United States, more than 500,000 Hispanic young women say “yes” to the dress—the quinceañera dress, that is. Picking a gown for this traditional coming-of-age celebration is personal, important, and often very expensive. The dresses are typically, like something a princess wears in a fairytale.
In Las Vegas, there are more than a dozen shops carrying these fancy schmancy dresses. Some also carry prom dresses, tuxedos and wedding gowns, while others stick strictly to quinceañeras. In most cases, the birthday girl has the option to pick from a catalog or order a custom design.
Eleganza Bridal, for example, is a family-owned boutique founded by Lupita Eleganza in 1992. Here you can select a dress in-store (1000 E. Charleston Boulevard, #105) with the help of the friendly staff or pick from an extensive online catalog with 30 pages of choices.
