Tacotarian Founder Says Trump’s Tariffs Threaten Her Business

Kristen Corral, Co-Founder of Tacotarian, highlighted the devastating impacts the chaos of the Trump Administration’s tariffs have had on the cost of operating small businesses like hers.

President Donald Trump recently implemented sweeping new tariffs that will raise the cost of groceries, energy, and household goods for Nevada businesses and families, impacting travel and tourism to Nevada.

Corral was part of a group of women business owners Senator Cortez Masto invited to speak on the subject.

Las Vegas Advocates Call for More Child Care Options

For Monday’s Day Without Child Care, families, providers, and allies in Las Vegas gathered together to urge Nevada legislators to pass AB185, a bill that would make home-based child care more accessible for families across the state, and demand better wages for providers, more affordable care options for families, and no cuts to the Head Start program.

Tara Raines, Deputy Director of Children’s Advocacy Alliance, a nonprofit focused on child welfare and equitable access, school readiness, and early childhood education, highlighted the importance of affordable child care for working families and how home-based care centers can help the crisis in southern Nevada.

Nevada Republicans Reject Dolores Huerta Day Bill

Assemblymember Cinthia Moore of Southern Nevada introduced AB98, a bill that would see Nevada observe “Dolores Huerta Day” on April 10th of each year in honor of the labor activist and Chicano civil rights leader.

The bill — which comes after North Las Vegas opened the doors to the Dolores Huerta Community Center — mandates that the governor issue a yearly proclamation recognizing the day and encourages public schools and educational institutions to educate students about Dolores Huerta’s life and work.

AB98 passed out of the Assembly along party lines, with every Republican voting no. Now, it’s headed for a work session in the Senate. If it passes again along strict party lines, Republican Gov. Joe Lombardo would decide whether to sign or veto it once it reaches his desk.
