U.S. News and World Report used federal, economic and demographic data, along with its own metrics, to create this year’s best places to retire rankings.
The national media company looked at the quality of life, value, health care quality, senior population and migration, taxes and job market of each town to see which towns were best for retirees.
U.S. News ranked the best cities for retirees nationally and state by state.
No Nevada towns made the top 100 in U.S. News, but several towns made the statewide list.
Here’s a look at which Nevada town was named the best for retirees in the state, how other Nevada cities compare, and which towns made the top 10 nationally.
Where is the best place for retirees to live in Nevada?
Carson City — the Nevada capital located about 30 miles south of Reno — was named the best place to retire in the state by U.S. News. The city scored well on commute time but was held back by a weaker job market compared with similarly sized metros. U.S. News lists the median home value at about $428,000, above the national average of roughly $370,000.
Nationally, Carson City ranked No. 173.
