Reno’s booked for a return trip to “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.”
The source of the news?
That would be Food Network personality and “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” host Guy Fieri himself, who confirmed he is shooting scenes in Reno for the show during a fan signing event.
Fieri was signing tequila bottles at Lee’s Discount Liquor in north Reno on Monday, Sept. 15, when he broke the news. The signing was for Santo Spirits, a tequila brand he co-founded with former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar.
As Fieri walked into the store floor to start the signing event, the Food Network star revealed that he came to Reno to surprise his godson. Since he was already in town, Fieri decided to get some work done as well.
“I haven’t shot triple-D (Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives) in Reno for a while so we shot some triple-D today (and) we’re shooting some tomorrow,” Fieri said.
Fieri also had some fun with the crowd regarding which restaurants made the cut in Reno for “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.”
“The places we shot are…” Fieri said before his voice suddenly trailed off.
Fieri then pretended to keep talking without making a sound.
“So those places,” Fieri quipped. “I’m sorry, my voice just went out a bit.”
Fieri and the Food Network are notoriously secretive about which restaurants they have visited before the episodes for those places air on “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.” Reno restaurants previously featured in the show have declined comment when asked if Fieri visited their restaurants for the show.
Fieri has been in Reno to film episodes a couple of times. The first one was in 2010, when Fieri stopped by such places as the Gold ‘N Silver Inn, Dish Cafe and Louis’ Basque Corner. Fieri also checked out Burger Me in Truckee, California.
Fieri then returned in 2019 to check out Reno once more. The return trip included visits to Noble Pie, Butcher’s Kitchen Char-B-Que and Yosh’s Deli.
Fieri’s latest visit means Reno will be featured multiple times on the show. Restaurants visited by Fieri during the same trip are usually spread out in various episodes, each one typically having a common theme such as “Burgers ‘n More” and “Pizza Plus.”
The Food Network is currently airing episodes for the 42nd season of “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.”
