This year, plenty of Fourth of July fireworks will fill Nevada’s skies. Here are some of the most impressive displays.

Celebrating the Fourth of July with fireworks is a timeless American tradition*. It can cause pets to become anxious, though, so it’s important to go over these safety tips in advance to keep your furry friends safe when the time comes. Once you know your pets will be calm and protected, you can head out to one of these showstopping fireworks displays in Nevada to close out Independence Day with a bang (literally).

*Did you know that using fireworks to celebrate the Fourth of July has been a tradition since 1777? They were used to mark the very first Independence Day in Philadelphia and have been a staple ever since. Fireworks themselves have been used since about 200 BC, making them much, much older than I originally thought they were. The more you know!

Fourth of July Celebration at Heritage Park, Henderson

When: July 4, 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Where: Heritage Park, 350 S. Racetrack Rd.

Henderson’s Fourth of July Celebration at Heritage Park is free to attend and is billed as a family-friendly experience. The event features live entertainment, a fireworks display backed by a special soundtrack from Mix 94.1, and a performance by country singer Tony Jackson.

There will be food vendors operating from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., along with a variety of activities, including cornhole, face painting, ax throwing, water blaster tag, and a Foam Frenzie. The event’s website recommends bringing towels if you wish to partake in the Foam Frenzie, and they’ll probably come in handy for the water blaster tag, too.

Want to attend a daytime Fourth of July celebration instead? The Summerlin Patriotic Parade is scheduled for July 4 at 8:30 a.m. at Hillpointe Road and Hills Center Drive in Summerlin. Around 50,000 people are expected to attend, so be sure to get there early to secure a perfect viewing spot for the parade. Here are additional details about the parade, parking, and more.

Boulder City Damboree

When: July 4, 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Where: Various spots in Boulder City

Now, if you want to combine daytime and nighttime festivities on July 4, you already know that Nevada has you covered. The Boulder City Damboree is part parade, part festival, part fireworks, which sounds like the perfect way to spend Independence Day if you ask me. The day starts at 7 a.m. at Bicentennial Park, where there will be a pancake breakfast and a flyover ceremony from the Boulder City Veterans Flying Group.

Then, the parade begins on Colorado Street at 9 a.m. and continues down Nevada Way before its conclusion. There’s also a water zone and additional activities at Veteran Memorial Park during the afternoon, along with a Fourth of July fireworks display that evening.

Star Spangled Sparks, Northern Nevada

When: July 4, time TBD

Where: Victorian Square, 764 Victorian Ave, Sparks

Specific details about the Star Spangled Sparks, such as the start and end time for the festivities, have not been released as of writing. However, the event is free to attend and will feature fireworks, food vendors, crafts, live music, and more. It’s billed as an “All-American style block party” that spans the downtown corridor of Sparks.

The Star Spangled website states that around 50,000 people are expected to attend, so this is another one you’ll have to get to early to secure parking and make the most of the block party celebration. Click here for more details.

Lights On The Lake Fireworks, Lake Tahoe

When: July 4, 9:45 p.m. to 10:05 p.m.

Where: Lake Tahoe, South Shore, 89449

Short, sweet, and right to the point, the Lights On The Lake Fireworks display in Lake Tahoe is visible from pretty much anywhere in town, but being right on the lake will really make it a one-of-a-kind show. The display is considered one of the top five in the US and has been highly rated by the American Pyrotechnics Association. Visit Lake Tahoe has a complete list of desirable viewing locations, which you can browse here.

There will also be fireworks during the Golden Nugget Lake Tahoe’s Red, White, & Rooftop Fourth of July Celebration. The Golden Nugget event runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and features live entertainment, food vendors, carnival games, and more. You’ll need tickets to attend, which you can purchase here.

Carson City Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration

When: July 4, 2:30 p.m., 7 p.m., and various times

Where: Eagle Valley Golf Course, 3999 Centennial Park, Carson City

Carson City’s Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration costs $75 per adult and $25 per child to attend, as it’s a fundraiser designed to “support the annual fireworks show and vital RSVP services for  seniors and adults with disabilities, including transportation to medical appointments, access to  nutritious food, and more.”

A golf tournament begins at 2:30 p.m. for those interested, and there will be a dinner starting at 7 p.m., followed by fireworks. You can purchase separate tickets for just the dinner and the fireworks if you’re not planning to golf while you’re there.
