Rooftop club in Vegas to become 70s-themed roller rink

From beach to boogie

Starting November 17, 2024, the TAO Beach Dayclub at The Venetian will trade in its poolside loungers for roller skates. The 47,000-square-foot space, typically known for its sun-soaked parties, will be converted into Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace, complete with a 3,250-square-foot rink covering both of the club’s pools.

“Roller skating hits the Strip,” announces the partnership, promising an “iconic roller skating experience” that will run through early 2025. This transformation will offer visitors a chance to experience a different kind of nightlife, swapping cocktails for quad skates and DJ beats for disco tunes.

A blast from the past

The concept of Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace isn’t new. The original venue, opened by Ian “Flipper” Ross, was a Los Angeles hotspot from 1979 to 1981. In 2021, Ross’s daughter Liberty Ross, along with Kevin Wall and in partnership with music icon Usher, revived the Flipper’s brand, bringing “skate residencies globally.”

Now, Vegas visitors can experience this blast from the past, complete with “top artists and DJs” providing the soundtrack for skaters of all ages. While some programming will be restricted to those 21 and over, the rink will generally be open to all, offering a family-friendly alternative to typical Strip attractions.

Pricing and perks

For those eager to lace up their skates, the experience won’t break the bank. Skate sessions start at a reasonable $20 per hour, with full-day passes available for $75, granting access from noon to 8 p.m. VIP options are available for those looking to add a touch of Vegas luxury to their skating experience. Bachelorette parties, birthdays, or just a night out can be celebrated at tables, cabanas, daybeds, or lounges, with minimum spends starting at $100.

Skate rentals will be available for those who don’t bring their own, ensuring everyone can join in on the retro fun. However, given the anticipated popularity of this unique venue, early ticket purchases are encouraged. Tickets are currently on sale through February 2, 2025.
